At Long Island DBT Group, we are deeply committed to helping survivors of trauma rebuild their lives and regain a sense of safety and control.
Our Trauma Survivors Program is designed to offer a compassionate, evidence-based approach to treating the emotional and physical effects of trauma. Whether you’ve experienced childhood abuse, sexual trauma, domestic violence, grief, or any other form of interpersonal trauma, we are here to help you heal.
Trauma can have lasting effects on both the mind and body. Survivors may experience a range of symptoms, including anxiety, depression, flashbacks, and difficulty regulating emotions. At LI DBT, we understand that healing requires a comprehensive approach that addresses both the psychological and physical aspects of trauma.
Mind: Our clinicians use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you process trauma and challenge negative beliefs that may have developed as a result of your experiences. These evidence-based techniques empower you to reduce anxiety and manage triggers more effectively.
Body: Trauma affects the nervous system and can create intense physical sensations. We incorporate mindfulness, breath work, vagal toning exerxcises, and yoga practices to help you manage these sensations, regain a sense of safety in your body, and ground yourself in the present moment.
Our trauma-informed therapies, including EMDR and Prolonged Exposure Therapy, provide the tools and support you need to process past experiences, build resilience, and move toward a future where you can feel empowered and in control of your life.
