Support groups are offered bi monthly for one and a half hours. It is designed to provide education and facilitate support to parents and partners living with members who suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder.
The group covers the following areas:
Biosocial make up and the development of BPD
Understand why self harm is a form of emotion regulation.
Learn to balance between validation (acceptance) and problem solving (change)
Learn Empathy without enabling, acceptance with boundary setting.
Learn to avoid splitting, push/pull relationship dynamics.
Learn to regulate anger and fear, and set boundaries.
Learn to effectively communicate without getting distracted with self destructive threats by the family member with BPD.
Allow the senior members of the group to be the support, education and encouragement to the new members.
