1. Does LIDBT accept Insurance?
LIDBT is an out-of-network provider and does not contract directly with insurance companies; however, some managed care companies are willing to provide a “single case agreement” for a client requiring DBT. Please see Fees and Insurance section for more complete information.
2. Can I only attend Skills Training Group? or Can I only attend
Individual Therapy?
DBT is a two-pronged approach to changing behaviors and helping you create the life you imagine. The Research indicates that, in order for this to happen, Skills Training and Individual Therapy are equally important components to treatment. LIDBT, therefore, follows the model and requires attendance in both Skills Training Group and Individual Therapy.
3. What is the usual Skills Training Group size?
Skills Training Group typically consists of between 5 to 10 members.
4. I feel that I need Individual Therapy more than once a week.
Is that possible?
The standard model for DBT is Individual Therapy once a week and Skills Training Group once a week, however, more intensive treatment can be arranged, if needed.
5. Do you have a Psychiatrist on your Team?
There are several Psychiatrists in the community with whom we work closely and can recommend. You may also continue to use your current Psychiatrist.
6. What is the length of Treatment?
It takes approximately 6-7 months to experience all four DBT Skills Training modules, which is the time commitment we ask of Clients entering the program. Most Clients opt to stay longer and repeat the modules in order to feel more comfortable with the material.
7. Can I continue to see my current Therapist ?
We ask that you temporarily end treatment with your current Therapist while learning DBT. You may return to your Therapist after completing the program.
